Good features, some setup quirks

I bought the MailEngine WordPress Plugin a few weeks ago for a new project. The Email Open Tracker and Unopen Resender Tool features are really useful for improving engagement. Installation was mostly straightforward, though I had a bit of trouble getting the GSuite SMTP Connector working initially. The documentation helped, but it took a little more digging than I expected. Overall, it's a solid tool and a good value for the price, especially considering the lifetime deal I got. I just wish the initial setup was a tad smoother, but once it's up, it runs well.

Great value, worth the purchase

As a first-time buyer, I was looking for something affordable but effective. I picked up the MailEngine Agency License during a launch special price. The initial cost felt like a good investment, especially compared to monthly subscriptions for similar services. The multi-site functionality is a big plus for my needs. So far, the List Management Software has been intuitive enough. I feel like I definitely got my money's worth with this purchase.

How do MailEngine's content spinner actually work? Does it just swap out words or is it more advanced for making emails unique?

R Rachel Romero 2 months ago
It's mostly for replacing synonyms to create variations, helps a bit with uniqueness to avoid some spam flags.

J James Foster 2 months ago
It's not AI-level writing, but it's pretty decent for what it is. It'll swap out words with alternatives from its database, so you can generate a few slightly different versions of the same email to send to different segments. Good for testing or just basic variations.

I have a JVZoo coupon code. Where exactly do I put it in the checkout process? Can't find a box.

T Todd 1 month ago
It's usually on the JVZoo checkout page itself, before you finalize the purchase. Not on the MailEngine site directly.

B Ben Brooks 1 month ago
When you go through the JVZoo link to buy, there should be a field on *their* checkout screen for coupon codes. It's usually pretty visible there, not something you enter once you're on the MailEngine site after purchase.

How does MailEngine connect to Gmail? Is it like, secure, or does it just ask for my password directly?

N Nina 1 month ago
It connects via the Gmail API, so it's not like you're giving them your password. It's an official connection method.

D Derek Y. 1 month ago
Nah, it uses the Google API, which is the secure way to do it. You authorize it through Google, not directly inputting your credentials into MailEngine itself. Keeps your account safer.

Hey, thinking about getting MailEngine. Is it a one-time purchase or do you have to pay every month?

C Colin E. 1 month ago
It's a one-time payment for the software itself. You might have to pay for your SMTP service separately though, like if you use a paid one.

L Lisa Z. 1 month ago
Yeah, I bought it a few months ago and haven't had any recurring charges from them directly. Just remember you'll still pay for whatever SMTP you connect, like GSuite or a third-party one.

Is MailEngine really better than something like MailerLite or AWeber for avoiding spam filters?

R Renee Kaur 2 months ago
It's different. MailEngine focuses on using your own SMTP (like Gmail/GSuite) to avoid spam, which can be effective. MailerLite and AWeber are ESPs themselves.

C Cody B. 2 months ago
It's a different beast. MailerLite/AWeber are full-service email providers. MailEngine gives you more control since you're using your own sending infrastructure. The spam avoidance features are more about how *you* send, rather than relying on a shared IP from a big ESP. For personalized emails, I found it better.

Anyone had experience with their lifetime deal? Is it actually a lifetime or just for a few years?

S Steve 1 month ago
I got a lifetime deal when they first launched, still works. No complaints.

Yeah, they do pop up with lifetime deals sometimes, especially during initial launch periods. I snagged one for the Pro version and it's been rock solid ever since. Pretty good value if you can catch it.

Can I install MailEngine on more than one WordPress site with a single license? Or do I need to buy it again for each site?

T Tara 1 month ago
Depends on the license you get. The agency one lets you install on multiple sites, I think. The basic might be just one.
4
N Neil N. 1 month ago
From what I remember, the regular version is usually just for one site. If you need it for clients or multiple projects, you'd want the Agency License – that's specifically for more installations.

Anyone know if they usually do a Black Friday sale for MailEngine? Don't want to buy now if there's a big discount coming.

D David 2 months ago
They definitely have Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Saw some good ones last year.

J Jared 2 months ago
Yeah, they often run sales around those times. I think they also do launch specials for new versions too, so if you're not in a rush, waiting might save you some cash.
